At the crossroads of art and research, this event highlights how archives can act as both inspiration and narrative framework, shaping stories, evoking memory, and giving new life to art through the drawn page. Illustrator and filmmaker Daphna Awadish Golan will share a sneak peek of her work-in-progress book Between Here and There, which draws on personal and collective materials to explore themes of belonging, migration, and memory.

The evening continues with a panel discussion featuring Aimée de Jongh (graphic novelist), Tobias Dahmen (graphic novelist), Syds Wiersma (Head of the Fries Archives), and Avigail Friedland (digital archivist).Together, they will reflect on the creative and ethical challenges of using archival materials in visual storytelling, the role of archives in shaping cultural memory, and the possibilities of bridging past and present through themedium of graphic novels.
