Looking back on Hollywood's second golden era, it's amazing to think that so many highlights of a still fairly young art form came from this short period. The 1970s were also a heyday for black cinema, especially the genre of “blaxploitation”. Movies like Shaft, Foxy Brown, and Coffy were iconic for this period. These films provided a platform for black actors and filmmakers and often portrayed tough black characters who stood up to racism and corruption.
