Resonance

An evening that explores the interplay between personal and collective identity, freedom and the spaces we inhabit, physically, emotionally and socially. Both works explore how history, trauma and human connection determine who we are, and invite reflection on presence, vulnerability and resilience in the face of limitations and disruption.

Program:

Rahimku/Rahimê min — My womb is healing by Yasmin Diktaş

Human Volume by Lola van Rumpt & DAVIES

Rahimku/Rahimê min — My womb is healing

Choreography: Yasmin Diktaş

Music: Andreas Tegnander

With a Kurdish and Indonesian background, Yasmin carries the legacy of oppression and colonial history. Her work reflects how these traumas can remain in the body and (sub) consciousness, and how processing and healing are an ongoing process. Creativity is a powerful tool for sharing and healing stories. Tears are allowed to flow here, as a way to release stuck energies in the body, but also to send energy to those who are still suffering, to those who are not ready for healing yet.

From the experiences of her own ancestors, Yasmin has learned how important it is to share these stories. Speaking about the past helps with processing and can prevent trauma from being passed on from generation to generation. That is why this performance also wants to provide space for the voices of those who are still surviving, those who cannot yet think about processing or healing.

This research has been processed into a thirty-minute performance with eight other dancers and has already been carried out. Yasmin now wants to expand the show and shows part of her research with this performance.

Human Volume

Choreography: Lola van Rumpt and DAVIES

Human Volume is an interdisciplinary study into how physical, social and mental space shapes us. Through music, dance and spoken word, we explore how individuals and groups create, surrender to, or defend space. This work is rooted in a desire to blur genres and reflect the urgency of human connection in a changing social landscape. Inspired by personal tendencies and collective behavior, we ask: how close can we be, and how far do we drift away? By combining layers of sound, movement and voice, we create a sensory world in which presence, vulnerability and reflection are central. Human Volume invites the audience not only to observe, but to feel space in and between us.
