Walls of Glass
Walls of Glass: exhibition and art project make loneliness visible in Amsterdam-West
From September 2 to 27, Galerie Beeldend Gesproken and the Embassy of Loneliness present Walls of Glass, an exhibition and participatory social art project about loneliness. The project is on display at Galerie Beeldend Gesproken in De Hallen, Amsterdam-West, and extends into the neighborhood through interventions in public spaces.
Six artists—Machteld Siegmann, Maria Donata Papadia, Nell Berger & Carl van Hees, Weronika Marianna, and Petra Kroon—explore loneliness in the exhibition through diverse disciplines, ranging from text to installation and visual art. Their work reveals the complexity of the theme: from distance and alienation to the need for connection.
Visitors do more than just observe; they actively participate. Some works evolve throughout the exhibition with contributions from the public, making personal experiences an integral part of the whole.
